Special fender donuts for Vard Tulcea to protect cruise ship hulls and mooring poles

Vard Group, subsidiary of the Italian Fincantieri, is one of the world leaders in the shipbuilding of specialized vessels: it operates nine shipbuilding facilities all over the world.

Vard Tulcea, the large shipyard located on the right bank of the Danube River in the city of Tulcea (Romania), has recently been the final destination of an order of 9 Resinex donut fenders, commissioned, manufactured and delivered in the first half of 2020 in record time.

The fenders are made of polyethylene foam with a polyurethane elastomer shell, they have a diameter of 3000 mm and a height of 2900 mm. Their large size has been particularly designed for poles with a diameter of more than 1000 mm.

They are devised to protect both the hull of cruise ships and the mooring poles: the internal structure contains special plastic plates that allow the rotation on the support pipe.

The polyethylene foam guarantees unsinkability even in case of damage and ensures high energy absorption with low reaction force, which is essential to eliminate the risk of damage to the hulls.
