The latest system for signalling access channels and harbour docks. Safety and reliability are the vital features of signalling systems for access channels and docks in modern industrial and commercial ports. This is particularly true if we consider that an accident involves not only the safety of the ship , crew and passengers but also preservation of the marine and coastal enviroment, which is a collective asset. The latest technology in this field involves the use of lights, radar or warning horns mounted on beacons. Resinex is a world leader in the manufacture of beacons and holds several international patents. They are special floating systems supporting poles or risers mounting the signalling device. They have a unique feature – unlike conventional light buoys, they cannot be displaced by winds or currents and are not subject to stress of exceptional intensity.
This is why more designers and harbour masters are turning to Resinex for the study and development of signalling systems. To mention a few of the most significant cases, the Olbia port consortium, for example, in the last years set up a system of 15 Resinex beacons plus two fixed land- based signals – one complete with an acoustiv warning device. The Port of La Spezia is equipped with a complete system of 11 beacons. And between 1992 and 1994 the indipendent Consortium of the Port of Genoa positioned 7 beacons in the access channel to the oil tanker dock, with the focal plane 4.3 to 8 metres above sea level. In conjunction with the University of Triest, Resinex has carried out systematic studies on the effect of wave tanks. Scale models were used and the data was recorded using electronic equipment and video analisys are then processed using parameters extrapolated from the actual behaviour of the beacons and external agents.
