Thirteen Resinex anchor pendant buoys have been used by Saipem in 1994 in the Channel of Sicily for laying the second section of the Transmed pipeline between Algeria and Italy.
These 15-ton N.B. anchor buoys were supplied to the Castoro VI, the Italian company’s offshore vessel, They are amongst the largest floats ever made for this type of use – 2.85 m. in diameter and 3.6 m. in length, they were made following the total quality assurance procedure. The production process and the end product were both certified by Lloyd’s Register in London.
For the Transmed pipeline, Resinex has also provided Saipem with seven ligh buoys and forty modular buoys used to support pipeline tie – in works on the seabed. The modular 4460 kg NB buoys have a special moulded saddle for coupling to the pipeline. They are 1.2 m. in diameter, 6m. long and they have been tested up to a working depth of 140 mts.
